Cameryn turns 1! *Children’s Portait Photographer* Riverside, Ca

My new partner in crime, Sabrina, and I spent a fun morning together laughing, chatting, gossiping, and especially dreaming of our awesome year coming up ahead. I almost forgot that I was actually there to work because we were celebrating her delicate flower’s first birthday with a little photo session. (The photo session that kept getting postponed due to torrential downpours! ) The day before the shoot, we joked that it better not rain or Cameryn will be 2 when we do her 1st birthday portraits!
But the day was perfection. It actually was the first time I got to hang out and play with little miss Cameryn, and I’m convinced that the sun came up just for her that Saturday morning. As Sabrina and I followed Cameryn around, I couldn’t help but be inordinately cheerful. At 1 full year of age, Cameryn literally lights up and trembles with glee and excitement at anything that she comes across. A flower, a waterfall, a snail, a puddle. I’ve heard lots of moms describe their kid as “happy,” but Cameryn can’t just be described as “happy.” Cameryn has happiness emanating through her pores. She is happiness personified.

I love that her little pant leg is bunched up in the images above. I can imagine a 15 year old Cameryn thinking it was hysterical.
And what’s a birthday without a little cake?

Sabrina, we need more Saturday mornings like that one. I’ll take Lucy along for the next one! Cameryn, you are a delight! I am so excited to watch you grow.
Do you see what I see? *Santa Ana, Ca Family Photography*

It was almost a year ago that my new little clan had our family portraits done. Those were days of non-stop bliss. Pure. Unadulterated. Sugary. Bliss. I mean come on, the blessings were everywhere I turned. We finalized our adoption, threw our first little girl birthday party, had a baptism, and on and on and on. I knew that on the inside, my heart was going to spontaneously combust with all the happiness I felt. Then, when I first saw how our family portraits came out, I got to be on the outside looking in. I got to see for myself what others see when they look at myself, my husband, and our precious Lucy. For one thing, we couldn’t stop laughing and giggling. Another thing, I love how my husband looks at me when I don’t know that he is staring. A third thing, how breathtakingly gorgeous my daughter is. And the best thing? How we as a family looked together…complete.
I hope that the awesome families, who invite me to be a historian for them for one day, see their photographs and are as pleased as I am when they get to see what I see.
Right before Christmas I finally got the chance to photograph my cousin’s family. Crazy schedules kept getting in the way, but luckily we got together just in time for the Christmas card deadline.
So…Lisa, Scott, Pierce and Leighton, I ask you…do you see what I see?
because I see a family who is completely devoted to each others’ happiness and well being. I also see parents who will do anything to offer their children the world on a silver platter, because they are precious and loved beyond measure!

I see a little boy who is super sweet, frighteningly smart, hilariously funny, and fiercely independent.

I see a little baby who is a gentle, calming spirit, a pretty princess, and cheerful as the sun is bright!

I see a little boy who has a “Please stop taking my picture” smile, just like his cousin Lucy, and a little sister who thinks her big brother is silly.

I see Scott madly in love and wrapped around a tiny little finger.

I see joy. Plain and simple. Joy.

I see how a hug from Mommy magically makes everything all better.

Do you see it? Lisa, Scott, Pierce, and Leighton, you are a lovely family and I enjoyed our afternoon together!
Okay…are you ready for this? My newest niece, Leighton, posed for some close-ups to celebrate her 6 month birthday. Styled by her super-chic Mommy, these photos need no words to accompany them, I don’t think there are any superlatives that properly describe her sweetness and her adorableness.

Being a super-model baby can be tough work!

I hope this little piece of sunshine has brightened your day as it did mine!

This is Hannah…

She is a lover of country music.

She does not like wearing hats…although flowered headbands are acceptable.
Hannah is tiny…she did just introduce herself to the world this past October. See how she fits perfectly in her Daddy’s hands.

and how tightly she clutches on to his finger…

Hannah is perfect. She is just that…perfect.

Hannah is a lucky girl. Her parents, Courtney and Travis, are fun, funny, and full to the brim with joy and laughter.
Courtney and Travis are going to fill her world with music, dancing, games, and silliness.

They are going to fill her world with hugs, kisses, and love.

and more love…

and more…you get the picture.

Yep, Hannah is a lucky girl. Hannah’s is a world that will be full of sunshine and excitement.

What more can a girl ask for?

Courtney, Travis, Hannah, thank you so much for welcoming me into your home. It was so lovely to meet you all. I adore your little family and had so much fun spending an afternoon with you. I wish you continued joy and happiness!
Courtney, let me know if Santa puts a fancy camera in your stocking
we’d have so much fun shooting photos with it!
Birthday baby. Abby, you’re number 1!

My little Lucy is part of an exclusive sorority. They are a very special band of little ladies with extraordinary hearts, talents, and unstoppable energy. They are a group of 4 cousins, all girls. Getting together with them is like attending a rock concert…or running a marathon…you are absolutely exhausted by the end. When they are together, there is an abundance of ponytails, giggles, and glitter.
Recently, we celebrated a very special birthday, Abby’s first. Baby Abby, so full of life, so full of joy, such cheer, such happiness…all in one tiny package. Here is dear sweet Abby celebrating her first year of life. Enjoy.

Happy Birthday Abby. We’re having so much fun watching you grow!

Introducing (drum roll please) Liam…a tale of newborns.
Posted on September 10, 2009
Everyone goes gaga over newborn babies, as they should. Pink, precious, perfect. I on the otherhand, adore newborn mommies. I guess it’s because not long ago, I was a newborn mommy myself. Becoming a mommy was a feeling of utmost love that hit me like a ton of bricks. I knew that I was going to fall in love with my baby girl, but I didn’t realize how intense and unyielding that love was going to be. It is a feeling of pure euphoria. Nothing compares. Nothing. period.
I had the amazing opportunity to photograph newborn baby, Liam, and never too far away was his newborn mommy, Michelle. As I watched her watch Liam, I recognized this look, and I recognized the feeling…how could you not when you see this angel…

I enjoyed witnessing this rare moment of calm and quiet, as he was so excited to be in front of the camera!

He was having so much fun being at his newborn Auntie’s house that he didn’t want to sleep at first. So we waited and sure enough…

and finally

pure, peaceful, content

then, he was ready to play!

I think it was because he heard his newborn nana’s voice…and he instantly wanted to be held by her.

here’s a little example of how newborn mommies make newborn babies feel…

Liam is a little ball of joy and light. A little man who steals the hearts from anyone in a room with him. He is loved and cared for by an amazing family. It was so much fun being in a house full of newborns…babies, mommies, daddies, uncles, aunties, all there to celebrate Liam, a new life.

Endless summer…or so I hope, and some fun with the cousins.
Posted on September 9, 2009
I am one of 27 cousins…I think. It may be 25 or 30…I really don’t know, I’ve lost count. Anyway, get a majority of our cousins together and there is nothing but laughter, loudness, silliness, loudness, games, laughter…you get the picture. All I know is it is a ridiculous amount of fun. My dear Lucy is blessed to have 3 cousins (for now), they are a very special group of girls who, when together, enjoy laughter, loudness, silliness, games…I wonder where she gets that from?
This Labor Day weekend was one that is going to be really hard to beat. You can’t go wrong with sand, surf, sun; it was a fabulous weekend at a gorgeous beach house in Newport Beach, CA.
Here’s what you see when you open the back door.

Lucy was ecstatic!

She had to begin exploring immediately…

She couldn’t wait to get into her suit and chase waves…

She also couldn’t wait until her cousins arrived! As soon as they came, the party began!

here’s adorable Abby…

pretty Paige…

cute Claire…

and my beautiful little beach bum, Lucy…

We didn’t want to go home…but alas we did, and took home about 25 pounds of sand for each family.
What a great way to celebrate this endless summer.
